Originates from Central and Southern Taiwan; the main production areas are tea plantations with altitudes of 1,000 to 1,400 meters in Chiayi County and Nantou County. Taiwan is a mountainous country, and there are many regions that produce alpine tea. Hence, “Alpine Tea” does not refer to tea leaves that originate from one particular region. The climate is chilly in the mountains, foggy throughout the day, and has short sunshine duration on average. This allows the new tea buds in the process of growing, to reduce the accumulation of bitterness. The resulting tea leaves are thus delicate, thick and soft. The tea has an emerald green color, sweet taste, robustness, and is able to sustain multiple brewing. As this type of stylish tea emphasizes“local and original taste”, the degree of oxidation is lighter, and most of them carry the floral scent and sweet aftertaste notable of Taiwan Oolong Tea.
